What to watch on the day
- 2:00 p.m. ET: the statement and the decision. Projections, when included, land at the same time.
- 2:30 p.m. ET: the Chair's press conference. Markets usually move more on the tone here than on the decision itself.
- What it changes for you: prime moves the same day (credit cards, HELOCs); car loans drift over months; mortgages follow the 10-year Treasury, which reacts to the projections and the press conference. The Fed-rate-to-your-loans table has every current figure.
