Interface and systems

The modern systems Forever ships with: the preset choice, Edit Mode, pings, the built-in damage meter, Discord guild chat, gamepad play and how layers work. Short, practical, with Blizzard's and Wowhead's fuller write-ups linked.

Classic or Enhanced preset

On first login you pick Classic (the 2004 interface and SD models) or Enhanced (modern frames, nameplates and the edit mode). Everything can be changed later under Interface; Icy Veins and Blizzard both suggest Enhanced if unsure.

Edit Mode (UI and HUD)

Drag every frame, bar and the minimap where you want them, save layouts per character or account, and import a layout string from a friend. The Classic preset ships with the old layout; Enhanced ships with the modern one.

Ping system

Hold the ping key (G by default) over the world or a frame to drop Assist, Attack, Warning and On My Way pings that your party sees without voice chat.

Damage meter

A built-in meter shows damage, healing, interrupts and deaths per fight and per dungeon run, with a breakdown per spell; no addon needed, and it works in battlegrounds.

Discord and guild chat

Link a Discord server to your guild: guild chat mirrors into a channel and back, with officer chat kept separate. Set it up from the guild panel; the guild leader authorizes the link.

Gamepad support

Forever has full controller support with radial menus for spells and a targeting assist; Blizzard's guide covers the bindings and Steam Deck play.

Layers

Busy zones are layered; party members on different layers do not see each other. Invite the friend, and the layer follows the party leader after a few seconds; stay grouped before taking a flight or hearth to avoid a split.

Addons

The modern API runs in Forever, so Enhanced-era addons (Questie-style helpers, bag mods, auction tools) work; the addons page lists what is confirmed and the macro basics.

Macros and addons: addons & macros, macro library. Wowhead: ping system, damage meter, edit mode, Discord integration; Blizzard: Forever with a gamepad.
